Lawn Care Marketing Fall Suggestions
I hope you had an enjoyable Labor Day weekend. It’s hard for me to believe that summer’s almost over and that fall is on the way. This also means football’s upon us, which is always a good thing.
Of course with fall nearly upon us, that means the 2nd big advertising season is nearly upon us as well. Even though I believe you should ALWAYS be in marketing mode, this time of year, along with spring, is the best opportunity to capture a slew of new prospects and customers.
Many home owners are tired of fighting their lawns and will be looking for someone to help with all the work that goes into preparing a lawn or landscape for the winter season. This is also the time of year when all the hard work and effort prepares a lawn for great things in 2007.
In a nutshell, now’s the time for you to step up and work like gang-busters to grow you business even more.
Here are 3 quick suggestions on how to get a truckload of new customers, or the very least, one time jobs that could easily lead into more consistent work next year:
- Create a fall cleanup special and then create a postcard or direct mail campaign offering this to your target geographic and demographic market. Remember, one shot mailings are generally a waste of time so plan to include at least 3 pieces.
- Create a contest for your existing customers and reward the customer that refers the most new customers. Give your contest an exciting title, promote it in all your customer communications, and have a valuable prize for the winner.
Also, think about ways you can help your customers tell others about your service. You might consider creating pass along cards they can give to their friends or neighbors. Or create a sample script they can use to tell others about you. However, what ever you do you need to make it as easy as possible for them to tell others about you.
- Do a joint venture with another service provider that works with the same target market. Heating system tune-ups are popular for a lot of A/C guys. Consider approaching someone in your area and propose a joint marketing effort between your companies.
Other potential joint venture partners include local restaurants, car washes, plumbers, maid services, real estate agents, car dealerships, etc. The possibilities are endless.
So even though summer’s almost over, there’s still a ton of work that can be done to grow your business. Think about these suggestions and decide which one, if not all three of them, could help your business in the coming weeks and months. Then sit down and put together your plan to put it in action.
If you get started right now, I promise you’ll see positive results even before my next favorite sport tips off!
